New Year Spell for Open Doors/Opportunity

Keys can seem like such a mundane, daily thing that we use all the time. However, keys are a sacred symbol of Hecate, who is the guide between the physical and spiritual worlds. Keys are a symbol of transitions, transformation, knowledge, and even locking bad things out and away. 

This bottled key is a talisman, enchanted to guide you to this year's destiny.  If you have a specific goal or path in mind already, take a few moments and hold the spell jar in your hands. Close your eyes and meditate, breathing in slowly in order to fill your lungs as full as they can. As you breathe in, filter into your lungs all the desires, goals, wishes, worries, and fears, and as you breathe out, blow gently onto the jar so it can collect them. It doesn't matter that it's sealed, the seal keeps the magic IN, it doesn't keep your spirit out. 

You can repeat as necessary until you feel ready. 

Once you feel as though the bottle holds all of your intentions, you can put it somewhere where you'll see it regularly. Putting it over a doorknob is most traditional, but it can go on a hook, or even on your alter. NOTE: The wax WILL MELT if it becomes hot, so it is best to keep it out of direct sunlight. 

Throughout the year, your talisman will attract opportunities. It will be your job to step up and take the chances. It will be your job to recognize the opportunities and seize them. The talisman will protect you and keep you grounded, and in some cases, may take you in directions you did not expect. These directions may lead to better destinations than you originally planned. 

This spell should be quite sturdy if handled with care. However, if the bottle breaks or the lid comes loose, the key itself can be worn around your neck, kept in a pocket, put under your pillow, or left of your alter.

If the jar breaks open, or the lid comes off, carefully collect the contents of the jar and bury them. A crossroads is traditional, but a quiet side of your yard or in a favorite flower bed will do the trick. This is called "giving it back to earth." You can simply keep the bottle (if it is not broken) or throw it away if it is broken- be careful not to cut yourself. 

If the jar is unbroken at the last day of this year, you can break the seal yourself and follow the above instructions.
